A large seventeenth century house. It requires careful treatment and, of course, has a number of features: Despite initially having very little light, and while thick stone walls made it difficult to change the layout, we managed to create a comfortable living space for a large hospitable family.
We faced a challenging task of making the space appear modern. Re-planning was required in order to create an open common area. We also worked to carefully allocate private space within the house to include bedrooms and efficient storage areas.
Paying our respect to the centuries-old history of the house, and ensuring preservation of its original atmosphere, we used design to create a light and airy space.
